Early Christmas gift

On December 16th Anthony asked me if I wanted an early Christmas present. Since it was getting late, I assumed it would be a movie that we would watch that night. Instead, Anthony asked: "Do you want to marry me?"

I replied, "You know that I do."

"Will you marry me?" Anthony asked, smiling.

"Of course I will," I reply in a passive tone of voice, not realizing what was happening.

Anthony then leaned his face closer to mine and nodded his head as he said slower: "Will you marry me?"

Shocked, I exclaim, "Of course I will! Of course, of course I will marry you!"

We hugged, kissed, and then Anthony explained that back in September he had decided to ask me to marry him for Christmas, but then he heard on the radio that two out of three engagements happen on Christmas and Anthony wanted to be different and special, so he decided to ask me the day after Christmas but then got tired of waiting, and wanted to do it today!

YAY! I'm engaged!

Officially Excited!

Last night I became officially excited for Christmas! Mostly it was due to the Christmas lights and lighted iron reindeer that greeted me outside the house when I got home from work. YAY for Christmas lights!

Today at work Erin surprised me by giving me my first Christmas gift: Scene It Simpsons! I am very excited to play this game and see how I do on my Simpson's trivia. I used to watch it religiously with Mikey and Shells Bells, so I am excited to relive my childhood memories as I watch clips from the show!

Epic Battles

Yesterday I was hurrying to get "all prettied up" for my work Holiday Party downtown in the midafternoon. I was combing through my freshly showered hair when something caught my eye...on the ceiling in the corner of the bathroom was a large red spider. Now, I am not afraid of spiders however I cannot tolerate them in my home -- well, actually in anyone's home. When I am visiting other people's homes and I see a spider walking on the ceiling I cannot help but follow it with my eyes wishing to flush it away to a watery grave! Most times I try to ignore the urge...

Since this spider was on the ceiling above my makeup bags and I was in a hurry I thought I might go get some sticky tape to capture him instead of hitting him with a shoe in case his body dropped into my supplies. I couldn't locate the sticky tape quickly and not wanting the spider to get away I compromised with myself that perhaps a shoe could suffice and hoped for the body to remain on the sole.

No such luck as I removed the shoe from the ceiling and his body fell into my makeup bag. Disgusted, I dumped the bag out into the sink searching for the body when I noticed that he was clinging to the outside of the bag! I flipped the bag launching his body into the air and he landed on the towel on the floor outside the shower. I hit him with the shoe but with the padding of the towel he would not squish! I hit him quickly three or four times -- stunning him -- and them scooped him up with a tissue complete with a flush away.

These kind of battles happen all the time. Now you know my passion.

I'm gonna be a big kid!

I just decided that the time has come for me to buy a house!

I realized that I have been out of high school for ten years, that is crazy! And what do I have to show for my time?

*I have three college degrees.
*I have been to China twice.
*I own Lola, a GREAT car.
*I have a loving boyfriend, Anthony.
*I've had A LOT of fun.
*I've had a GREAT time.

But I think that I might need a place to live that is more permanent, better than a basement. So I am going to buy a house in the next couple months. I just need to find it now!

Black Friday

I was not sure if I wanted to go shopping on Black Friday or not this year. I didn't really have anything in mind worth fighting over. But then Thanksgiving dinner came and Shelly and Mom said that I simply HAD to come, it was tradition, and besides, they couldn't do it without me.

Since I didn't care where we went, Shelly mapped out the plan but never got around to telling me where we were going or what I was supposed to grab for her. She kept getting distracted by everything else that was going on.

The plan was to go up to Toys R Us in Layton, then Old Navy, then Walmart in Centerville, Target, and Shopko.

I had driven down to Sandy to have Thanksgiving dinner at Tina's. After that we all played a game and sat around the table talking until Anthony pointed out that it was nearly 11pm. I quickly brought out phoney -- who had been on silent -- and I had four missed calls and three text messages from an angry Shelly who wanted to know why I wasn't up in Kaysville yet. I put on my winter clothing and rushed up to Layton.

Shelly and Mom left without me and I was to meet them inside the store. When I arrived in Layton at Toys R Us they were still in line outside! It was 12:08 AM, usually we already have a cart full of things by this point! I stood outside in line with the family (Dixie's family was there too) FOR AN HOUR. We were still maybe another hour away from going inside and after discovering that all Shelly wanted from the store was a keyboard and some DS games I told my mom that we should go get breakfast at Denny's, ignore Old Navy, and go scout out Walmart.

Mom and Shelly had found out earlier that the Walmart in Centerville was going to stay open throughout the night, so we could go find what we wanted and when 5 AM hit we could grab everything. And the best part, we could be INSIDE the store and not freeze while waiting in line! I got to the store at 2:45 AM and looked around the store for the Passport that I wanted, and suddenly found myself in line for a Nintendo DS. I LOVE playing with Shelly's and since I was in line I thought that I would get one for myself. When Mom and Shelly showed up Mom took my place in line with the cart, and Shelly and I searched the store for goodies.

We managed to completely fill the cart with deals by 5 AM so that the only things that we had to grab were the Passport, some DS games, and a cover for the DS. Mom was in line for the system itself so we didn't have to worry about the mad grab for one. Shelly went to grab the games and I stood in the front of the Passports. It was my job to grab three Passports then hurry over roughly 20 feet to the covers for the DS.

Each of these items were covered in clear wrap so that we could not grab the deals early. Once 5 AM hit, the workers would cut the plastic so that we could grab our desired items. I had perfectly situated myself on the corner of the Passports, and once I heard a mad scramble for the DS covers, the worker by me started cutting the plastic. I ripped the plastic open, grabbed three Passports and RAN over to the madhouse that was the stack of DS covers. Quickly scanning as I arrived I saw all the covers were gone from waist to head and I ducked down, reached between the legs of a stupid girl who was pinned against the shelves from her cart and the other shoppers. I don't know why anyone would bring an empty cart next to the mad grabbers, but she got what she asked for.

After grabbing four of the cases (I was also grabbing for the ladies who were standing by my mom in the DS system line) I started to hurry away when all of a sudden security showed up in their orange shirts screaming: "Put them back! Put them back! It is NOT 5 AM yet!"

I was not going to lose my prizes so I ducked and ran off to hide in the underwear section. From here I could see my mom's cart, the security guards, and there were many places to hide my stash if I needed to. I took out my phone and saw that we still had 4 minutes before 5 AM. Shelly then ran past me on her way back to mom, there had been the same mad-grab over at the games. I stopped her and we waited until after 5 AM to deposit our goods in the cart.

Whew! That sure got my adrenaline pumping! We got the DS systems and found a quiet corner to go through our overloaded cart. We got rid of about half our stuff, like we always do, and that ended up being half of my Christmas shopping!

After Walmart we stopped by Target, were disappointed, so we headed over to Shopko. Shopko is GREAT on Black Friday, they have a lot of good deals and not a lot of shoppers. At about 8 AM it was time for me to go home. Once I got home I ended up going shopping again with Anthony, Tina, and Eleni. I finally fell asleep at 11 AM, after 26 hours of being awake.

It was a fun day! Productive, I got some great deals, and after I woke up I went to Best Buy and got the rest of my presents. Why did I ever doubt going? I LOVE the crazies!
